Henna can be applied anywhere on the body and is applied on clean sanitized skin where the paste hardens as it dries. Once the paste hardens, a mixture of lemon juice and sugar can be applied to the design to help darken the stain and keep the paste on for longer.
You should leave the paste on for at least 4-6 hours but it is recommended that you leave the paste on as long as possible (overnight if possible). The longer the paste stays on the skin, the darker it will get. It is best not to allow any water on the area for at least 6-12 hours.
When the Henna dries, scrape the paste off (don’t wash it off, use lemon juice or olive/corn oil to help remove residue) and try not to wash for at least 12 hours for maximum colour.
The Henna design should last up to 2-4 weeks but varies to person to person.
The design will first look orange but will darken to a brownish-red colour. It is normal for the stain not to be very dark on some skin tones.
Traditionally Henna is applied on hands, feet, ankles, shins and wrists.
Henna stains best on thick skin which is why it is applied on the above areas.
The Henna should last up to 2-4 weeks but varies person to person.
Leave the paste on as long as possible.
Henna likes heat so the warmer the body temperature the better! If you are cold, drink something hot before you start.
You could wrap the area in which Henna has been applied to conserve the heat and moisture.
Henna is a natural dye and it will stain any clothing, textiles or furniture.
If you have a nut allergy it is suggested that Henna is not applied because we can not guarantee that the product’s sources and its ingredients have not been in contact with nuts.
